Broadway at the Beach

Over 13 million people visit the Broadway at the Beach complex in Myrtle Beach every year. Broadway at the Beach is a shopping and entertainment center with nearly two dozen different restaurants and more than 100 stores. The complex contains a number of theaters. The SkyWheel

The SkyWheel is located on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. The SkyWheel is a large Ferris wheel that stands close to 190 feet high. It has 42 different gondolas for visitors. A ride around the wheel lasts for about 10 minutes. The SkyWheel provides panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and of the entire Myrtle Beach area. The SkyWheel is open for most of the afternoon and evening every day of the week. Operators will close the SkyWheel if there is bad weather or a chance of lightning.

Myrtle Beach State Park

The Myrtle Beach State Park is a forested area that sits just behind a beach off the coast. Visitors can come to the park to see natural flora and fauna native to the area. Park officials hold educational events for adults and children that include live animals like reptiles. Travelers can rent a cabin in the state park that provides fast access to the beach, nature trails and even fishing piers. The park provides a different perspective of Myrtle Beach and the history of the area.

Family Kingdom Amusement Park

The Family Kingdom Amusement Park sits on the edge of the ocean and provides an open and fun environment for kids and adults. The park contains dozens of different rides including a 2,400-foot high roller coaster made from wood. The park includes many games and other fun activities. Families will find live entertainment like clowns and magicians roaming the grounds as well. Family Kingdom does not charge admission to enter the park.

Myrtle Beach Speedway

The Myrtle Beach Speedway is a half-mile racing track on the edge of the city. The 12,000-seat speedway hosts professional and amateur races throughout most of the year. It is also home to a number of other events such as festivals, fundraisers, concerts and auto shows. Visitors can buy tickets and attend whatever races or events are happening at the speedway while in Myrtle Beach.

Carolina Opry Theater

The Carolina Opry is a live theater that puts on a famous show designed to entertain entire families. The opry regularly performs a two-hour variety show that includes comedy, drama, dancing and live music. The Carolina Opry also produces a few other specialty variety shows that have unique themes such as a type of music or a holiday. Families can buy discounted season passes or holiday passes to attend the shows.


Myrtle Beach is known for the many golf courses in the area. Anyone who enjoys golfing will want to spend some time exploring the dozens of courses available in and around Myrtle Beach. The courses range in difficulty from very easy to incredibly hard. A large number of courses are open to the public. Families with children will find easier miniature golf courses spread throughout the city.

Ripley’s Aquarium

Ripley’s Aquarium is a large center filled with exotic fish and marine life. It includes a number of interactive and educational exhibits for children. The aquarium is a fun and bright place to visit. It even includes a 300-foot moving walkway that takes visitors through an underwater tube where everyone can view sharks, rays and other reef fish.
